“Pull into the driveway and head down to the water’s edge, where the Blue Heron fills the lower level of a family house, This contemporary dining room is adorned with bright floral tablecloths, fresh flower arrangements, and heron-inspired artwork. Luminous little lamps at every table and a fire burning in the large stone fireplace impart a soft golden glow throughout. A wall of windows faces the glassy waters of Porpoise Bay, and almost every table shares the magnificent vista.
The house specially is seafood, and unless you catch it yourself, seafood doesn’t get much fresher that this. Start with one of the wonderfully creative appetizers, such as artichoke hearts filled and baked with shrimp, crab, and Parmesan cheese, or Samba prawns sautéed in a garlic cream-Samba sauce. As a main course, we recommend the broiled halibut fillet topped with red onion and strawberry salsa, or the bouillabaisse with fresh fish, scallops, crab, and prawns, served in a lobster bisque.” Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest.
The cuisine is fantastic. This is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. The menu has a variety of choices of dishes and drinks for children and adults. The service was excellent. It is recommended to reserve a table, but when I went I didn’t have to wait at all to get a table. The waiters are very sweet, patient, and fast. They also have a good understanding of what is on the menu. If you have any questions they are very happy to help. They always made sure that all customers are enjoying the food.
Once you enter this restaurant you feel like you’ve entered a beautiful world. The decoration of the paintings, pictures and plants make you feel very serene. Especially when the sun is shining outside. The exterior and interior design is simply magnificent. Once the food is on the table, you feel as if the place is fit for the gods. The atmosphere is wonderful.

Healthy, Local Ingredients
gumbootWe serve whole foods – and when possible use local and organic ingredients. Most of our sauces, dressings, breads and desserts are made for scratch. We try to only supplement with foods from companies that also follow our standards for health and goodness. We take the same care when choosing our meats, fish and poultry.
During the summer months Roosendale Farms, from Pender Harbour, supply us with tomatoes, cukes and peppers. Butcher Block in Sechelt makes up our sausages and bacon. In season, The Gumboot Gardens out back supplies us with greens and other veggies.
Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten-free & Other Diet Restrictions
The Gumboot Restaurant prides itself on a diverse and healthy menu, and that means providing delicious food for those with specific diet requirements. Over 80% of our menu is, or can be, gluten-free. We often have gluten-free, dairy free, or vegan
desserts made by the bakers next door at the Gumboot Cafe. We can substitute your bread for rice, your rice for quinoa, or your quinoa for veggies… just let us know!

As well as serving quality food made from quality ingredients, we strive to make our customers comfortable. While there is nothing fast about our food, we want to get it to you as quickly as possible. If you have any time restrictions please inform your server when you are seated. You are also welcome to check out the Gumboot Café & Bakery next door for a variety of sandwiches, wraps, pizza, salads, and baked goods that are delicious and ready to go.
